Opening in the first week in November has historically proven to be very lucrative for Christmas movies. POLAR EXPRESS, ELF, THE SANTA CLAUSE and its two sequels were all early November openers.

My God. Zemickis has made some good cgi movies but I really wish he’d just return to at least do one live action feature. It’s not like his last live action feature was bad either.

If they opened closer to Christmas they wouldn’t have much time to make money before Avatar took all the 3D and IMAX screens.

Now THAT is one of the most unappealing posters in recent memory.

I wonder if the filmmakers spent more time trying to capture the delicate tone of the original Dickens, much like the 1951 Alastair Sim version

    or

did they spend all their time making sure there would be an abundance of creepy, stilted, motion-capture animation flying RIGHT IN YOUR FACE in all its glorious 3D crappiness.

    Blech.
