‘Everybody’s Fine’ trailer

Last week we told you about the Best Actor buzz potentially building on the horizon for Robert De Niro in the remake “Everybody’s Fine.”  Pete Hammond has seen the film and sung the actor’s praises, and now, we get this broad, sell-it-to-the-masses trailer.  If you can get past the awful voice over and awkward musical choices, I think there’s an interesting performance lurking in there — maybe:

The original film is no classic, but if De Niro can top Mastroianni’s beautiful work, I’ll be VERY surprised.

Interesting. An awful trailer, but the film looks solid. God, I hope De Niro can pull a Burt Lancaster and age gracefully on screen. He’s a great enough actor to pull it off.

Looks more like a Golden Globe win situation a la Gene in TENENBAUMS (Not that that wasn’t a snub), but I’m hopeful. I’d love nothing more than for De Niro and Duvall to both be in the hunt. We need to reward our greatest actors as much as we reasonably can in the years we have left.

The trailer wasn’t all that great–but I frankly think this movie looks like a good vehicle for all these actors. It looks like DeNiro is putting forth a heartwarming performance, and he has aged gracefully…so I think this role will be a fine return to form. He seems genuine, subtle and sincere and the fact he shares scenes with Rockwell and Beckinsale is awesome.

By the way I just caught a promo trailer for ANOTHER DeNiro movie slated for a 2010 release–this time he’s with Edward Norton in John Curran’s (Painted Veil) “Stone.” It’s written by the same writer as “Junebug.” You can check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9DtVjUIVY8

What a terrible voice over, but De Niro does look very good here and it’s refreshing to see.

Okay that STONE trailer looks about 100 times better, it’s not going to be on youtube long because of the nudity. But I’m very intrigued by that. Norton looks like a hoot.
