“That’s not true” … hilarious. Kanye West, however, is just embarrassing. Gifted, but embarrassing.

I posed this theory last night on Twitter, and I wonder what you folks thought. I’m beginning to wonder if Kanye West is just hip-hop’s equivalent to Lars von Trier? On paper, both are gifted artists who could reasonably be ranked among the best in their field right now. However, they constantly make claims THEMSELVES that they are the best in the world, and constantly pull childish stunts, not because they’re really that stupid, but because they know it will give them attention. So, like, is “808’s & Heartbreak” his “Antichrist”? Or is that the next album?

Kayne is a huge douche, there probably isnt anyone who deserved to be interrupted less during that moment than a 19-year old who is as gracious as they come.

I wonder how Beyonce and Jay-Z feel about that, it puts her in a tough spot, which luckily she cleared up when she got her award at the end.

The whole VMA’s are a farce. This was staged. Everything is fake around those parts, from talk to tits.

Ooh nice segue, Adam, but “Antichrist” was more artistically ambitious than “808’s And Heartbreaks” imo, but you’re right about the personalities. It seems West is no less embarassing when supposedly shilling for others.

I see the theory, Adam, but at least Von Trier doesn’t impinge on other people’s success. (Though I’d have loved to see him muscle Michael Haneke away from the mike at Cannes this year, crying “Imalitchufinish, but I’m the greatest director in the world” in his flat Danish tones. That would have been TV gold.)

And yeah, huge respect to Beyonce for her gesture at the end … I’ve never been much of a fan, but that was class.

I like how the media are acting as if Taylor Swift is a 12 year old.

She’s a teenage millionaire, was the highest selling artist of 2008, and according to wiki, she’s been nominated for various awards some 35 times, winning 22. The VMAs were not her first rodeo – at all.

Like she needed Beyonce to rescue her.

And Kayne, he’s a guest on Jay Leno’s new show tonight. Stunt much.

Kanye is, has been, and always will be an asshole. Poor Taylor Swift, 17 yr old singer gets embarrasssed by an ego-tistical, ill-mannered punk.

Yeah he has talent but talent never gives you the right to be a jerk off.

Nice touch of class by Beyonce btw.

I love Kanye’s self-aggrandizing nature. He reminds me of a musical version of Terrell Owens– a guy who can’t be out of the spotlight but also has the talent to back up his mouth.

His frequent doses of political incorrectness are in ways refreshing. The public needs celebrities and figures to hate, and whether you think his music is gold or garbage, the guy knows how to make a scene, which is always a fun thing to witness.

For as much as many people hate Kanye, they keep talking about him, which is exactly what he wants.

He was also pretty fucked up off that Henny.

A fool. Just like Little Richard’s outburst while presenting Jody Watley’s Best New Artist Grammy some 20 years ago. “The winner is…me…y’all never gave me nothin…” Classless.

Hahahaha, this is great! Kanye West and Joe Wilson both receive the award for biggest douchebags of the past week.

That whole VMA thing was stupid, though. I never liked Kanye West, but now I really don’t like him. Damn near despise him in fact. Plus it’s for a VMA, a meaningless award. Grow up.

Maybe classless – but Little Richard is the REAL King of Rock and Roll (not white enough to be officially recognised as such, back then) and one of the most influential musicians/performers ever. Why the hell didn’t he have a Grammy by then?
