The buzz, manufactured or not, is swirling around Michelle Monaghan’s performance in “Trucker.” There is plenty of room in the lead actress category, so maybe there’s a play here, I don’t know. Here’s the new trailer:

It is just a trailer but the glimpses of her performance here do not seem award worthy, but who knows.
I just can’t get over the fact that Michelle Monaghan does not for a SECOND look like a trucker. Maybe if she had put on a few pounds or did some Monster-style makeup it could’ve worked, but right now I don’t see her being a major contender.
Robert, that’s silly. Not all female truck drivers are fat or ugly. I’ve been on the road a lot (my dad is a truck driver) and I’ve met plenty of attractive female truck drivers.
Hmm, trailer doesn’t do ANYTHING for me at all.
Good thing they have accolades in there or else I would skip right over it.
What’s the song in the end of the trailer?
Trailer was awful, performances look pretty brutal from that. Though Nathan Fillion always makes me happy.
I’m confused… is there plenty of room in the Best Actress race? Or didn’t you recently write that it’s actually a pretty crowded field. I know you think Streep is in it but I see it as a pretty clear 3-woman race with Mulligan, Swank and Sidibe, with one of the newcomers likely to win.
Well, I thought the trailer was impressive, but Bennett looks better than Monaghan to me.
@Johansson: The song is “I’ve Got A Secret” by Fred Neil.
I like the trailer, interested thanks to Monaghan and Fillion. Still, it seems like an Oscar bait remake of Over The Top.
What’s the name of the song in the beginning of the trailer?
