‘Inception’ official site

Nothing there yet, but have a look.  The trailer is attached to some prints of “Inglourious Basterds” and I’ve heard it looks “Matrix”-like in the action.  But it looks that way for a reason, plot-wise, so if you see it, don’t start thinking Nolan lost his marbles and went full blown Wachowski.

Very cool. If he wasn’t before TDK, Chris Nolan certainly is a brand-name now and thus has his own “following” (for those of you who know his filmography).

I am very much looking forward to this one. In a selfish sort of way, I wish Nolan would hurry up and finish his work on Inception so he could start Batman 3.

Waitaminute, what?!? How do you know this? You were still looking for a script before I went to South America, did you succeed?

Is it already known, when a trailer will be released?

Robert: Kinda sorta. But to report on it would put my source at risk, but I know some things, yeah.

Yeah, voland. It will appear, before Inglourious Basterds.

The teaser kicks ass. It’s no more than 60 seconds long, describes absolutely nothing about the film and has about one actual shot, but it’s brilliant, I’m sold.

I also was surprised to see the “Avatar” trailer attached. I don’t think it went over too well.

Okay, okay, you got your own Deep Throat, that’s cool.

I know we’ve had our differences lately, but I’d REALLY like to know: Thumbs up or down?

Definitely a thumbs up, and if the effects work out, it’ll be a trippy experience.

Nolan has yet to make a bad film, mind you. I can’t wait for this.

Probably my favorite working director (does Andrew Dominik count as working?). Color me pumped.

Very anxious to see the trailer with IB tonight.

What Chase said. The teaser did exactly what Avatar didn’t. It makes you sit up and say “Hey, what’s this all about?”

That is great to hear. I trust your judgment when it comes to Nolan for sure. Nolan is the man right now (best mainstream writer/director currently working) in my opinion.

This is my most anticipated movie, hands down. Director + cast + awesome plot [from what we’ve heard] will make for an outstanding movie.

I will be seeing Inglourious Basterds this weekend just for the trailer. Normally I would have waited a weekend.

Nolan’s “The Prestige” is one of the more underrated movies of the last several years. The final scene with Bale and Jackman (“It was the look on their faces”) is great writing.

The only negative begins with an ‘S’ and ends with Johannson.

Okay, so I just got back from Inglourious Basterds, and man was I bored out of my skull. Long, drawn out conversations, usually unnecessary, plagued the film, and the worst part was (with the exception of the first scene) none of them were that interesting.

I mean, really, was there ANY point to the conversation between Shosanna and Landa, with its closeups of creme and strudel? Or the constant back-and-forth in the tavern that didn’t contain an ounce of tension? Or how about the totally out-of-place narration bits from Samuel L. Jackson? The first time was gratuitous, and the second time was condescending towards the audience. “Okay, so after the characters make it obvious that the nitrate film is flammable, Sam Jackson is gonna spell it out for you.” Thanks for treating me like an idiot, Quentin.

With the exception of Waltz, none of the performances were strong, and in the case of Pitt and Roth, terrible. But I have to admit Waltz, though his linguistics were very impressive, didn’t knock me out my seat with his performance in the way that Jackson in Pulp Fiction or Thurman in Kill Bill did. In fact, sometimes his character was totally inconsistent (though that may be due to bad direction). For example, why did he go berserk and strangle von Hammersmark for betraying the Nazis only to make a deal with the Allies mere minutes later?

Shit like this happened all the time in Inglourious Basterds, where plot points would take forever to get through amid all the pointless chit-chat and none of the main characters were well-developed or interesting.

And Eli Roth is a bitch-ass. There, I said it.

But this thread is for Inception, and THAT looked cool, although the booming musical cues did become almost comical. To be honest, I didn’t really get a “Matrix-vibe” from it. I didn’t really know what to make of it, which is a good thing.
