‘Funny People’ goes red band

Thanks to commenter AmericanRequiem for reminding me to post the new “Funny People” trailer. (Hey, I have to sleep sometime.) From where I’m standing, it’s a notable improvement on the previous trailer, not least because it’s considerably more tight-lipped about plot developments than that one was. Shame about that.

Interesting that this one seems to place more emphasis on the Seth Rogen character, who was pretty much just parsley on the side in the first one.

I love it. There’s a chance I might see it next week at Universal here. I really want to!

I gotta say, I wasn’t looking forward to this after the initial trailer. Even though early screening reports were positive, the movie didn’t seem at all funny (and I was kinda pissed, like a lot of others, that the entire plot was spelled out in the initial trailer).

This gives me renewed hope. The jokes seem pretty good, and I like that the movie won’t be as heavy as the initial trailer made it out to be. I’m hoping Leslie Mann has a bigger role, though; she was the highlight of Knocked Up and has continued to impress in nearly everything she’s done.

Saw it yesterday. I was floored. One of the greatest comedies of the decade and certainly a possible Oscar contender.
