Happy ID4

One of the greatest teasers ever.  Knocked me on my ass back in the day.  Fire up the grill, throw back a cold one and watch the Fresh Prince make bitches out of some invading chumps.  Happy Independence Day.

13 years later, Roland Emmerich is still destroying The White House. But this time with a USS Kennedy :D

Oh, man! That takes me back…

I’ll never forget the first time I saw it in a theater.

That teaser sold me the movie.

900 million dollars worldwide prove that.

PS: If anyone missed Jeff Goldblum making his own obituary on “Colbert Report”, go watch it.

Well, I’m 27, ID4 came out in 1996 so I was 14. “Kid” enough for me. But maybe “back in the day” should be plugged in instead, lest the readership think I’m still a tyke (though I’m definitely still a kid).

Oh, and Brando: Do you even remember what this trailer was like when you had no idea what to expect from the film? I certainly wasn’t alone in that. It became the must-see film of the year just to find out what the hell that fire wall was all about. I guess you kind of had to be there (and had to be a youngin’).

Kris I’m not american but I’m young too. On the other hand, I never liked that kind of movies: alien invasion, explosions, people screaming… not for me.

That’s not necessary, Burma. I get it: great explosions, great special effects, great blockbuster.

I like a lot that movie and it was one of my favourite when I was kid (real kid…10-11 years). And even now I enjoy it, but just today I realized the pro-EE.UU. propaganda that it represents. It supossed to be the world’s independence but it was the world’s independence thanks to USA and the same day that you celebrate your independence. And that tought makes me WOW myself.
    Anyway a truly entertaining movie.

I loved this movie as a kid, and yet this is the first time I’ve ever seen this trailer and I think it kicks ass.

I loved this movie when I was younger, but watched it a year ago wasn’t that fun. Still, at the time I remember thinking “this is my favourite movie of all time!” Are the naivety of youth.

Brando, your opinion of the movie shouldn’t discount the fact that, as a piece of movie marketing, it is brilliant. Blowing up the white house is perhaps the most succinct and well-targeted piece of advertising of the ’90s. People knew what they were getting and knew it good.

Funny though watching this and seeing not one mention of Will Smith. Imagine that today!

I remember seeing this during the Super Bowl that year and knowing that July 2 couldn’t come fast enough. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and still do. I watch it every year on July 4th. Hopefully, next year, I’ll be watching it on a HDTV with a Blu-Ray player.
