Coppola’s ‘Tetro’ gets a trailer

Posted by · 8:29 pm · May 2nd, 2009

The trailer for Francis Ford Coppola’s “Tetro,” which will play as part of the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes later this month, has shown up at the film’s official site.  Brad Brevet at Rope of Silicon has an embed, which I’ve included below.  Beautiful cinematography once again.  Have a look:

It looks good at least. If Tetro is bad, it sure doesn’t know it’s bad.

It looks beautiful. The music, the actors, the cinematography, the black and white… all sounds greats. I hope is this time, Coppola will have what he deserves.

Could it be that Coppola, after all these years is finally giving us another great film? It looks terrific though I know a trailer does not a movie make — I’m into it and will be there opening day — have to believe he has one more great film in him…

Despite what Youth Without Youth might have us believe, the director of The Godfather isn’t entirely inept…

Was that Hiam Abbas in the trailer? She’s a good actress.

Bill, that was Maribel Verdú (Pan’s Labyrinth, Y tu mamá también). She’s also a very good actress.

Oh, that’s right, I recognize her from Pan’s. I knew she looked familiar.

Did anyone else think that the one guy looked exactly like a young DiCaprio.

    I wouldn’t say exactly, but I noticed a resemblance.

I’m getting a Powell-Pressburger technicolor vibe from the dance clips in color. LOVING IT!

Not really feeling it. I love Vincent Gallo and I love the idea of Coppola making something small and great but it just doesn’t seem like it’s gonna happen. I didn’t even see anything that interesting in the cinematography outside a couple of shots thrown into the montage. It’s black and white, sure, but that doesn’t make it automatically good.
