I totally forgot to tabulate my year-in-advance prowess (or lack thereof) when the nominations landed over a week ago, but according to the old site, I guess I nailed 34 nominees correctly.  None of them particularly impressive, I guess.  Most of them we probably all saw coming.

Speaking of year-in-advance predictions, I might as well take a moment to remind everyone that this year’s slate, as always, will be revealed the day after the Oscars (Monday, Feb. 23), as usual.  Be sure to check back for those (which will be as wrong as any year, I imagine, but hey — it’s fun).

Whoa, 34 is the exact number of nominees I predicted last March too… freaky!

Well, 33.5, since I had predicted Kate Winslet in supporting for The Reader.

You did pretty good. Obviously, the Soloist threw everyone off.

    But Hamlet 2? Hahaha.

James: Big hit out of Sundance. There was a big campaign planned before the particulars of “Milk” and “In Bruges” settled themselves.

Ultimately, though, I think I was just at a loss.

I’m pretty glad that the Soloist got bumped. It was so baity…almost annoyingly so.

Joe Wright is a good director and RJD a good actor, but Jamie Foxx is just a terrible guy.

When they were filming The Kingdom in the Emirates, Jamie was invited to the Ambassador’s house for a party I was at – not only was he very insulting to the embassy and the State employees working there, but he put foward the exact image of American ignorance, intolerance, and paranoia we are trying so hard to depricate.

Foxx hired 8 bodyguards and two taste testers(!) to accompany him on the trip to the Emirates – he was afraid the “Arab terrorists” would see him as a potential target!

He also didn’t even speak to a single embassy employee while at the party, not even the ambassador herself. It was really very arrogant and insulting to us.

I suppose we were lucky noone from the other embassies was invited! Foxx made Americans look pretty darn bad that night. What a tool!

I wasn’t directing that at you, Kris. I am just surprised how it had any buzz. Did people watch the same movie I did?
