Bale’s apology

And that’s that.  From TMZ (via /Film):

“The thing I really want to stress is that I have NO confusion what-so-ever. I was out of order beyond belief. I acted like a punk. I regret that and there is nobody that has heard that tape that is hit harder by it than me. I make no excuses for it, it is inexcusable.

“In [T2] you will meet Sarah Connor. And she is in an insane asylum—why is she there? Because she is crazy. Now I play John Connor her son, and on the day that all of this happened, the scene that we were doing, I was trying to show a little of that in-the-blood craziness, and it went a little wrong… I took it way too far, and I completely mixed up fact and fiction. I’m half John Connor, I’m half Christian there.

“I’ve not only talked with [DP Shane Hurlbut], we’ve resolved this completely. That very day we kept working for a number of hours. Listen when I’m saying I’m not coming back on that set if he’s still hired, it’s hot air. I don’t believe that. I have no intention of getting anybody fired.

“And another thing: a lot of people think that I was a bully to this guy. That’s an insult to Shane. He is a big guy. I couldn’t have bullied that guy if I tried. He’s much bigger than me—he’s an ex-friggin football player.”

Great apology. He also talked about Michael Phelps: http://thefilmstage.com/2009/02/06/christian-bale-apologizes-for-going-batshit-insane/

“Please, Michael Phelps — swim in the next Olympics … So he smoked a bit of weed. Plenty of our presidents have. Do not waste that godlike talent.”

    GO BALE.

Totally forgiven — that was a lovely apology – he took responsibility, had a sense of humor and was the perfect gentleman in apologizing. Good for him. I thought he was a putz yesterday but my faith is restored.

I especially love the final paragraph. And he’s probably right about it too.

When Batman tells you to swim in the Olympics, you better swim in the Olympics.

    I still hate him.

Just kiding I never gave a shit – it was funny to hear an actor take working on a Terminator movie so seriously.

    Why so serious?

I never condemned the man for his tirade (though it was inexcusable and unprofessional), but I’m glad he has apologized.

What I want to know is if he’s heard the viral sensation remix on YouTube? It’s got like 1.7 million views in just 3 days since it was posted. It’s one of the funniest videos ever on YouTube. He seems to have a pretty good sense of humor about this ordeal so I hope he’s seen the video because I think he’d probably laugh his ass off at it just as much as the rest of us.

BTW, for those who haven’t seen it:

Thanks, D. We were pretty much all over that from the start.

I posted it in the comments section of one of your articles. Not sure if that’s where you first came across it. I found it at Superhero Hype. It had only 625 views when I first watched it. I hope Bale gets a chance to watch it.

I’m sure he has. At least I hope he has. I want it as my ringtone.

I’m honestly not trying to stir anything up, but — why is everyone “accepting his apology”? Why does he need to apologize to us? He was on a private set. Apologize to Hurlbut and McG and the crew, fine. But he didn’t do anything to us.

It’s not the apology we deserve but the apology we need.
