Is the sidebar list of nominees inacurate? Or it isn’t meant to be the Oscar shortlist?

WALL-E and Wanted are my favourites on the list (sound-wise), and as with the other aural category, I’m missing Quantum of Solace here.

Still, this is WALL-E’s to lose, and in that curious case, it will lose it to The Dark Knight, whose sound obviously has as many fans as it has detractors, but has the advantage of multiple nominations and AMPAS guilt.

Kris, you’ve got the wrong nominees up. “The Dark Knight” is nominated instead of “Benjamin Button” in the Best Sound category. And “The Dark Knight” is nominated instead of “Iron Man” in the Best Sound Mixing category. Not sure what you did there mate.

I think “Wall-E” deserves both, but especially editing. However, this is one category I would be pleased to see “Slumdog Millionaire” win, actually. It’s sound design was absolutely vital to that film’s limited (in my view) success.

er, sorry now I’VE made the mistake. It should read:

““The Dark Knight” is nominated instead of “Benjamin Button” in the Best Sound EDITING category.”

Wall-E should win this as the whole film is basically sound editing. Now I don’t know how many oscar voters know the difference between mixing and editing, so I’m not sure who will win.

“WALL-E,” once again. A film driven by unique, endlessly innovative and technically brilliant sound design. Win.

And as has been mention, “Benjamin Button” was not nominated in this category.

It doesn’t matter who else is nominated, if WALL-E doesn’t win this one hands-down (which it currently is), then it will be a major uprising of stupidity as not ever seen before.
