Thanks to The Film Experience for pointing out this tease of a still from Stephen Frears’ Berlin-bound period romance “Chéri,” which promises something of a return to form for star Michelle Pfeiffer. (IMDB tells me she’s 50. You kidding me?)

More stills can be found at this fansite, showcasing what looks to be predictably lavish production design and costuming by Oscar nominee Consolata Boyle (“The Queen”). Do we have a 2009 craft-category contender already?

This was a Jessica Lange role. She was robbed, so I hope this sucks.

Michelle Pfeiffer will be 51 in April? Damn. I would like to think that she’s had work done, but I’ve never heard definitive stories on that.

I own High Fidelity, The Queen and Dirty Pretty Things so I’m looking forward to this.

I seem to remember her saying she hasn’t had surgery, but who cares? Whatever she is/isn’t doing to look that amazing, it’s the right call.

(Sorry, Michelle Pfeiffer is/was my first movie-star crush. I get defensive!)

Have you dug further back into Frears’ filmography, Zac? “The Grifters,” “My Beautiful Laundrette” and “Prick Up Your Ears” are the shit.

Fuck Jessica Lange. It’s time for Michelle Pfeiffer to win an Oscar at long last.

I LOVE My Beautiful Laundrette and Prick Up Your Ears <3333. Daniel Day-Lewis was robbed of an Oscar nomination for that.

Agreed, Pfeiffer was unfairly snubbed for her icy work in White Oleander.

I’ve seen the Grifters. No points for guessing which scene I remember the most. :)

Since I was 12 or 13 when I saw it, can you blame me?

Reading Roger Ebert’s review, I remember the switching bills scene clearly. A few weeks ago, I had a customer at my store pull a version of that scam on me. Too bad I didn’t catch him……

Thanks to Friends, whenever I see Dangerous Liasons, I remember the scene when Ross asks Joey and Chandler what Rachel’s favorite movie was.

Ross: “Rachel claims this is her favorite movie.”
    Chandler: “Dangerous Liasons.”
Ross: “Her actual favorite move is?”
    Joey: “Weekend at Bernies!”

Andrew: Yes, big time. Not to mention “The Age of Innocence” and even “Frankie and Johnny.”

SCARFACE was 26 years ago, GREASE 2 is in another dimension and therefore not subject to time, but I believe it is even older, so why are we surprised she’s 50? But yeah, she does look great.
