Really, is there any reason to “jump off a cliff” and predict a DGA victory for David Fincher tomorrow night? Other than the usual hopes of perceived (but fluke-ish) brilliance, I mean.

Isn’t the DGA given out tomorrow (Saturday) night?
And no, Boyle seems to have this one, too. I’m not a big fan of “Slumdog Millionaire,” so I’m really struggling to see waht people are rallying behind with the film.
Fincher is probably #2 for this, but wouldn’t a win for Nolan or Van Sant suddenly make the Oscars more interesting?

A Nolan victory here would be too sweet.

It would nice to see things stirred up a bit, but I wouldn’t be on it. But I would love to be wrong about this. I’d say, as long as Ron Howard doesn’t take it, it’ll be a fine choice that I can live with (though, besides Frost/Nixon, Button is probably my least favorite of the bunch).
And Kris, is that a Bill Engvall reference I spy?

I just don’t see anyone but Boyle winning this. I’m not even sure Fincher is the #2: Nolan could gain some support as oscar snubs have helped a couple of past DGA nominees, Van Sant might benefit from Milk’s new momentum, and the DGA clearly loves Ron Howard.

Would be nice to see Nolan get a consolation-for-not-getting-an-Oscar-nomination prize like Spielberg and Howard did. One can dream.
