“WALL-E,” absolutely. Containing the best sound design of the year, it’s also the film that is most driven by its sound. There’s nothing quite like the way it works to accelerate the narrative, and nothing quite as great as how it gives unique personalities to its robotic characters.

Dark Knight. The mixing of the fantastic sound effects editing (guns, crashes, explosions) with the gorgeous score.

WALL-E beyond a shadow of a doubt. TDK’s sound was over-loud (no it wasn’t the theater, it’s the same on DVD) and you sometimes can’t even hear what characters are saying (again even on DVD, not just in-theater). WALL-E’s a movie that’s driven by its sound, if it doesn’t win, no one deserves to win.

Totally agreed, Matt. On both accounts.

If WALL-E doesn’t win both sound awards I’ll throw a fit!

If there’s any justice it will be the best action movie of the year — Wanted. Watch it on blu ray and tell me you don’t agree.
