Ew, gross!

Nat Rogers at The Film Experience has a nice rundown of the more notable points (high and low) of this morning’s nominations. Read it here, but I was particularly amused by his graphic representation of the mind of the average AMPAS voter:

Aren’t Minghella and Pollack both posthumous producing nominees now?

    Sympathy votes a possibility?

LOL. Great pic from Nat Rogers.

    My fave movies from 2008:
    1. The Dark Knight
    2. WALL-E
    3. Tokyo Gore Police

I clearly am not a member of the Academy :P

i.e. a possibility why The Reader did a little better than expected?

The Reader did better because the academy are suckers for shameless Oscar bait.

I understand the vitriol for The Reader nomination… to a point. Let’s not forget that Frost/Nixon is also one of the nominees and experienced probably the smoothest road to Oscar morning. Why not mock that?

I think that Frost/Nixon is a much better film than The Reader (…and Milk…and TCCOBB). But I find The Reader to be a complete and total mess, so my bar for what’s “better” is low.

There was no good points only bad ones.
The Dark Knight is way better than da oscars
anyway and doesn’t need them to say it was the
BEST film of 2008. They SNUB us we SNUB
them. oscars don’t mean jack anymore.

But the fake graphic is resonable in is declaration that superhero movies are gross. They are. They really really are. All of them. Anyone that likes superhero movies is just a weird loner. Probably.

Adam, if that’s the case, the critical and commercial reception for The Dark Knight suggests there are an awful lot of weird loners out there.

    Come on.
