Official ‘Defiance’ website launches

Paramount Vantage has launched the official site for Edward Zwick’s “Defiance,” which closes out this year’s AFI Fest on Sunday.

Throughout the site, you can hear samples of James Newton Howard’s beautiful (and Oscar-bound) score.  You can also dive into the history of the narrative with lots of awesome and informative bells and whistles.  One of my favorite sections is the “Surviving the Winter” tab.  Some of the film’s most stunning photography is shown off during this stretch of the story, likely landing Eduardo Serra his third nomination in the process.

Beautiful stuff.  Vantage is always great with this kind of thing, using the online experience to really amplify their product.

I’m really looking forward to this. And I love how it looks so far, hopefully it’s really good and makes itself a unique, stand-out film? I guess what I’m most afraid of is a generic WWII Nazi picture, but I really hope I’m wrong. And I love Jamie Bell!!!

Eduardo Serra has 2 nominations. This would be his third.

The music is great. Hope JNH gets another deserved nomination (though I hope its Newman’s year).

By the way, Apple has the next set to screen podcast up on Australia, detailing the music in the film. It sounds epic and diverse and has a great chance of a nomination too, I think.

Jamie Bell could be the scene stealer in Defiance, he was robbed 8 years ago so maybe that help him to earn a nomination.
Zwick´s flicks made well in the supp actor category (Watanabe, Honsou) and cinematography
(Legends of the Fall, Samurai, Diamond)
Bell or Schreiber and Serra are safe bets.

Ivan: Jamie doesn’t steal any scenes, but I will say this. His is my favorite performance in the film. I just believed him more than the other actors. But I wouldn’t call him OR Schreiber safe bets at this point.
