I saw a screening of this last night. To my dismay quite a few people were laughing all the way through it. I didn’t stay for “Carrie” afterwards because I was in such a foul mood, and assumed that the ingrates there would be laughing even more through that.
Still get chills watching her, um… it…that. Amazing to think after all this time it retains so much of its power and dark beauty. Never really scared me, but was never able to stop thinking about it either.

“That’s much too vulgar a display of power”
Sounds to me like something God would say. It’s also an inconsitancy in the Demon’s character as far as his actions and words. BTW make no mistake about it that character is a Demon not the Arch Angel Satan.
