While it’s a senile and bumbling review, some of the criticisms they make I actually somewhat agree with. Although it’s quite apparent they didn’t understand the movie, they were sleeping, or their old age was kicking in. Or all of the above.

It IS extremely important to note, however, that these two are more in tune with the Academy’s tastes than any internet rumblings going on declaring “The Dark Knight” a surefire Best Picture nominee. I never believed it would be a Best Picture nominee, but now I’m pretty much sure.

I never thought it had a chance at Best Picture either. I did think there might be a chance for Best Screenplay considering some of the diverse choices that have made it in recently (Children of men, Borat), however this kills that hope in my opinion.

The day I start trusting what these two bone-heads say is the day I stop watching movies.

No need to trust them for movie opinions, but as Joseph says, they are representative of the Academy demographic (for better or worse).

Of the demographic, yes. However I refuse to believe that they represent the opinion of their own demographic. After having seen their past videos, it seems to me that they are pretty far out there and get off on being “grumpy old folks”

the academy is getting younger and these kinds of movie watchers are dying off. There is a lot of love for the Dark Knight. Dont dismiss its Oscar chances just yet. I have a feeling we may all be blown away by the amount of love the film gets.

The Academy is inviting younger people, but you’re a member for life. And they aren’t exactly dying off left and right.

If I recall last year, they were all over Michael Clayton and had issues with There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men. There will certainly be a demographic against films like The Dark Knight, but this is the kind of film that appeals to the “steak eaters”, the largest demographic group in the Academy. Considering what a weak year it has been so far, The Dark Knight will certainly make the BFCA’s top ten list, and if doesn’t get the nomination, it sure will have been close.

Well, it’s quite obvious that these senile fools prefer style over substance 100%. Michael Clayton is my case in point. I’m not even watching this review, because I know that there ill-conceived criticisms will surely drive me crazy! Clayton, in my opinion, had no psychological depth, and relied on a cheesy plot device (end first) that added no particular weight to the story.
These people don’t understand art, their critiques are superficial, and they are quite possible the laziest viewers I have ever seen!
