More hope…

I don’t want to post “The Dark Knight” producer Emma Thomas’s quote in this space. Spoilers and all. But suffice it to say, this IGN story gives us all hope.

I want to hear Emma Thompson’s thoughts on the Joker returning. The Joker MUST be in the next one.

By the way Chris Nolan fans, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84zU4DjR82I

    Nolan at an Eminem concert?

I’m at the point that I just don’t care about Two Face returning. If they snuck him away at the asylum, they damn well should have done it in THIS movie.

I think one area of discussion that could be brought up again is this: Robin. I can see him/her fitting in to the Nolan films MUCH more than I could before seeing TDK.

I’m fairly certain that Nolan has no intentions of putting Robin into this world. I recall him saying something about Robin being in a “crib” out there, and also given Christian Bale’s comments about how he would refuse to come back if Robin was in the script, I’d say Robin is a pretty long shot. There was barely room in The Dark Knight for both the villain and the hero, and if they have a villain for “Batman 3” half as good as Heath Ledger’s Joker, there will be no room for Robin. I still say Riddler for villain (with Two-Face as something of an anti-hero) but the Riddler should be given the “Nolan treatment” and be reinvented to be scarier and more realistic.

I think he’s dead because he’s had his main arc. What IGN proposed, which is supremely logical, is that the police force now attempts to track down Batman who has become a public enemy (killing cops and the like), and enlist Edward Nygma to help them bring down Batman or find out who he is. He then becomes Batman’s intellectual adversary, coming to replace Batman in Gotham’s eyes while having less than noble intentions. BATMAN NEEDS TO PROVE HIMSELF AND SAVE THE DAY OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

Dent died when Rachel died, Kris. And that’s that…I think.
