People are fascinating. We have a huge and complex capacity to be all kinds of things. And you look at someone like Condoleezza Rice and you see an example of just how far a person can stretch themselves. And I don’t mean that in a good or bad way, but she is an…oh God, I really want to get this right…she is an incredible example of discipline.

Oy.  Still the worst casting decision of the film.

Heaven help us… she’s, what, like 20 years too young? I can only guess that Angela Bassett, CCH Pounder et al, were unavailable. Very sensible of them.

I just cannot foresee any scenario for “W” in which it doesn’t tank.

Yeah… it’s definitely a stretch… but I am in love with her… so any Thandie casting is good in my book right now.

I don’t have any problem with this; sounds to me like an intelligent actress trying hard to say very little. I’m sure Stone has impressed on them all the need to say nothing controversial before the film opens. And we’ll see what happens when it does.

Sure, her casting is a stretch. I’m more worried about Ioan Griffudd as Blair, but in general … I don’t know if I’m optimistic about this movie – let’s face it, it’s far more likely to sink than swim – but I know that I want Stone to knock it out of the park, say things that need to be said (again and again). I feel like you’ve made up your mind already, Kris. On which subject, it was disappointing that you saw fit to link from here to that site that had bad actors, badly lit and badly shot, doing bad readings of random lines from what is acknowledged to be a very early draft of the script. Think of your ten favorite movies; I guarantee not one of them would withstand that kind of treatment. And you of all people should know that.

I haven’t made my mind up on the film. I’ll give it a shot. But I’ve read the script, and feel I have a place to make up my mind on that level. It’s awful.

The Vulture link was in good fun. And that’s kind of their niche to be irreverent. Nothing wrong with pointing to it, I think. But truthfully, early draft or no, there are some ghastly things going on on those pages.

    Fingers crossed…
